Few albums are able to remain relevant for a decade, let alone four. But such is the time-defying power of David Bowie’s 1972 masterpiece concept album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. Bowie was a true performer; taking on a character like Ziggy allowed the eccentric artist to enter into another realm and world, and ultimately enabled him to make some of the most iconic music of his storied career.
    .
Now, forty years after the album’s initial release, fans have the opportunity to experience it like never before. That’s because a 40th anniversary edition of Ziggy Stardust has been released. And it’s stacked: not only has the album been remastered, it also includes never-before-heard mixes of songs such as “Moonage Daydream” (instrumental), “The Supermen”, “Velvet Goldmine” and “Sweet Head.”
    .

I'm sure he's inspired too many to count. But there will never be another Bowie.

I might not be an artist, however, he has inspired me.  The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust was the first cassett I bought with my own money.  I delightfully know all the words to each and every song and all the songs on the kids movie from Hansen Studios Labyrinth.  He inspired on of my friends daughters whom I lived with in a womans shelter  whom does espire to sing professionally.
