  • Bio

Nikki Carr, MCKA; The Quiet Storm...."I can perform for anyone of any age at any time. I furthermore guarantee that you will walk away feeling pleasantly and hysterically entertained." Many performers will list where they’ve been, who they’ve performed with, etc., for me this is not a necessity. I’ve been too many places and opened for too many acts. What’s most important is that you catch me at a venue near you real soon!

  • Influences

My biggest influence is my Mom. I remember her always asking me, "why are you so silly all the time?!" She never once said "stop acting silly." She let me be me and now I get paid to be me. Not to be a comedienne or be funny..what you see is what you get. I like to see people happy because of me. I've been this way since I was born. Now, there are comedians that fueled me when I was just a little Carr, like; Lucille Ball, Jerry Lewis, Danny Kaye, Abbott and Costello and the thirty thousand sitcoms that hit tv in the seventies and eighties. I loved them all' from "That Girl" to "Lost in Space" (aaah I took you back right there:) To "Good Times" and "What's Happening." If you asked me which comedienne I admired the most, Whoopi Goldberg is the best black female I've heard so far. Marsha Warfield was the first woman of color that I'd ever seen do stand-up. I absoluetly love Ellen's comedy and Rita Rudner, Paula Poundstone and Margaret Cho. Queen Latifah has become quite the comedic actress. My favorite Males are everybody else's favorites too. You know, Richard is always first, then Eddie..Murphy that is,( sorry Eddie Griffin;) , Then Martin, JB Smoov (for me anyway), followed by Tony Roberts, Smokey, Mike Epps and so on and so forth. There are white males that I like too like Billy Burr is hilarious Jason Andors and there are others but I don't know their names when I see them I call them "this guy"..."Oh I seen this guy before, he's funny." These are all of my influences. You...my friends, fans and family are my motivation. There's no me without you.

About me:

....
Who me? What you see is what you get. Comedy is not what I do it is who I am. That's why I'm so good at it. Don't hate - understand. I've been an award -winning writer since second grade, P.S.53x, Project Succeed honoree! This isn't a game, I'm nice with the pen baby! If my pay was commensurate with my talent and love of creativity - I would be an extremely wealthy person. An only child and a Libra ?!!! Duh!! I was born of two of the most artful and intelligent people who ever done it! I'm from there AND I can go there and come back unmissed and unscathed. On the real...I LOVE what I do for a living. Like an alley cat thrown to the wind.... Somehow I always end up landing on my feet. Thank you Drew for being the first. That $40 you gave me was the start of my career as a "paid comic." And with friends like Talent, Smokey, Boney and too many others to name, it looks like ..this is it - you are stuck with Nikki Carr. Namean?!!!

Who I'd like to meet:

Steve Harvey. So that I can personally thank him for the best job I've ever had in my life.If I hadn't seen him on Tavis Smiley way back when, I may have NEVER found the courage to make that first move. I could just go on and die if I ever met Stevie Wonder! You think it's just a Steve thing? Anybody who knows me, knows Missy Elliot is my idol. I really wanna meet the person who said that when big folks wear black it makes them look smaller- I look the same size in any color! Alicia Keyes, Wendy Williams (again). Mary J Blige. All the people who wanna meet me basically...How 'bout that?!

  • Music

All of it. I even love "cave songs" By PDiddy and the Neanderthals... "Ggr gr huk luka" Ahh that's my Jam. What can I tell you? My dad is Bruno Carr one of the greatest jazz drummers of his time. Google him if you don't believe me. It was inevitable that music would be as important to me as my next breath. I've been dancing and bouncing out beats since I was spermatozoa. How 'bout that?! This is one of the best performances I'd seen in 2007
  • Movies

The ones that I am in. There are no small parts, blah, blah, blah... also, Blue Steel w/ Jamie Lee Curtis and Ron silver. Wow what a flick.

  • Books

The Dictionary, The Bible, Think & Grow Rich - Napoleon Hill. The Comedy Bible. She's so funny- Judy Brown. Don't block your blessings- Patti Labelle. I've read so many of the old school black books that I'd have to open another page to list them all, you know the Donald Goines, Richard Wright, Piri Thomas, Iceberg Slim era. I've read all of the Jackie Collins, Dean R Koontz and Steven King books that I could. I love autobiographies and biographies, but most of all I love any book of poetry old or new.
  • Heroes

Delores Margo Carpenter. My mother and friend who instilled in me 24/7 that I am the greatest and that I can do anything that I wanted -if I put my mind to it. She told me to make sure that no matter what I chose to do to make sure that I'm the best there is. She raised me single handedly and I think she did a great job. I was raised on the pressuring streets of New York City and I never got into any trouble or did things that would bring her grief because she was much too beautiful to cry (and much too strong to be hitting me ),I miss and love my Hero for real y'all.
