  • Bio

Missing Link started off playing bass in a metal hip hop crossover band at performing arts college at the age of 16.He soon tired of the late nights and all that drinking, and moved quickly onto the joys of vinyl and early morning stomps in a field. In time, Missing Link discovered Goa trance at Return to the Source, and lent his ears to the likes of Slinky Wizard and Funkus Monkus. Missing Link upped and moved to Brighton, where he traded his bass in at Cash Converters for a pair of SoundLab DLP-1 belt drive turntables and a shitty KAM mixer that he nailed to the kitchen table. Soon he was playing at parties in Brighton, at the Volks Tavern, Cuba Bar, Angel Street Studios and other underground events across the town. Unfortunately Missing Link never reaped the benefits of being a DJ and never really met any proper groupies. After moving back to Surrey to study at Uni, Missing Link organised a dance stage at the Ambient Green Picnic for four years in a row. He played sets at all the events, turning his hand to some drum n bass alongside L Double and some psy trance after Nicky Blackmarket (no mean feat!). He also played a live set with his mate Dave, with a little help from Johnny who turned up unexpectedly. After supporting Dark Angel on one occasion, Missing Link decided that Barclay was a very nice chap, and became his sole male groupie for two gigs. Through the AGP, he blagged a couple of sets at Guildfest, which was good because one of his mates got in for free, yay!!! Again, unfortunately there was little groupie action available, leaving Missing Link plenty of time to finely hone his skills. Missing Link likes groovy choones with plenty of atmosphere, and lists influences like Infected Mushroom, Shpongle, Cosmosis, Astrix, Astral Projection, Shiva Space Project, Koxbox, Timecode, Doof, Routemaster, Stay Up Forever, Insanity Sound System, Hallucinogen, Prometheus, Younger Brother, Eat Static, and plenty more obscure stuff that tickled his fancy. When composing psy and chillout, Missing Link goes for the more eclectic vibes, including plenty of eastern influence and instrumentation. He also puts in loads of psy-fi bleeps and tweeks, and occasionally drops in a funky bass line just to weird out the hippies :) ..
