Bio
As British as a great day out by the seaside, as British as fish and chips, as British as broken families and sink estates, as British as laughing in the rain, as British as banter in the face of adversity, as British as the classic pop that echoes through the decades, as British as the multiracial music that soundtracks our lives - Kid British are the 21st century punky reggae party. They are the sound of the mash up of music styles that fast forward their way throughout modern UK. They are the party political broadcast from the 24-hour party people. A multiracial, multi ethnic reflection of modern Blighty. Kid British manage to take the grit and grime of real life, of their lives and turn it into a celebration. These are songs of growing up in the confusion of the modern big city, of kitchen sink dramas and street politics in a country now run by its Eton paymasters. The lyrics which are laced with a sly street wit and sharp banter are snapshots of the modern world and come with a sensitivity and intelligence. Whilst Kid British don't flinch from the real world they also, like their forbearers , The Kinks, Specials, Madness, great hip hop and reggae, and a box full of classic Motown seven inches, never flinch from popular music, and their gigs are a rowdy celebration of the good times and the community spirit of great music. The band were briefly signed to Mercury Records who tried to turn them into a glossy pop band, they resisted and ironically stand on the threshold of creating a breathtaking debut album release for new Manchester label Modern English who allowed the band to be their exciting selves. In the studio the band’s natural instinct can now allowed to celebrate itself in a raucous party that spills over onto the live stage. Their gigs are sweaty, wild celebrations of being young and alive with stage invasions and wild camaraderie that recalls everything that was great about the Specials in their heyday. Kid British’s live audience celebrates all generations of British music. Dancing on the bones of the classics and putting them into the new century, there’s a whiff of Motown and hip hop, the party clatter of primetime bluebeat, the skinhead moonstomp of primetime ska, the sense of space and time of reggae, the psychic dancehall of stomping northern soul and timeless action! time! vision! of classic British beat, and always.... those great melodies. An audience of hip street kids, football fans, students, pretty girls and elder musical warriors dance in a blur of sta pressed street fashion and sharp styles. Kid British is a party and the bands infectious onstage energy and raucous bonhomie is guaranteed to get this socially conscious bash started. ...... .. .. ...... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ........ ........ ........ ........ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. -
